CELLULOSE ACETATE

Celanese manufactures a range of environmentally friendly cast acetate films. Acetate films are derived from sustainable non-fossil fuel resources, and are certified biodegradable and compostable. Acetate films are available in clear and white as well as matte and gloss finishes.

The combination of cellulosic polymer and casting technology produces products with very distinctive characteristics.



Outstanding Optical Properties

Acetate films have excellent transparency, high gloss, extremely low haze, and a very low birefringence. These characteristics make acetate an excellent laminate.

Certified Sustainable and Safe

Acetate films are certified as biodegradable and compostable meeting ASTM 6400 and EN 13432 standards. They also comply with FDA and European regulations for direct food contact. Acetate is a versatile component when considering packaging waste recovery.



Strong and Secure

Acetate is a non-orientated film with balanced properties in machine and transverse directions. It has good tensile strength and elongation with low tear properties making it ideal for use as a tamper evident label stock or security tape/seal. An ultra-low tear acetate (Loki) is available specifically for high security applications.
